Cabin Fever: Adult Winter Reading Club. (Long Hill Library, contact Mary M 908-647-2088 x6 for more info).
Easy and simple to run, plus it gets people excited about reading and the library. The program runs for 6 weeks. No sign-up is necessary, people can just fill in raffle tickets when they return items to the library (one for each item they read or listen to). Prizes are chosen weekly. We offer winners a choice of the advanced reader's copy books piling up in my office, plus a $10 gift card to a local coffee shop. At the end of the 6 weeks, we'll hold a "Reader's Tea" on a Sunday afternoon, where we will all get together and talk about books. We plan on contacting everyone who entered the raffile.
In addition, we encouraged people to write a mini-review of the books they read. This was optional, but many took advantage of it. We then posted the reviews on the Long Hill Reads blog at http://longhillreads.blogspot.com - which I hope to continue into the future.
